Frequently Asked Questions
MSC retired the Easy and Easy Plus beverage packages for US/Caribbean sailings departing after April 1, 2025, and globally on August 1, 2025. Premium Extra is now the ONLY alcoholic drink package MSC sells. If you booked before those cutoff dates and selected Easy or Easy Plus, your purchase is still honored, but new bookings cannot choose the cheaper tiers.
List price is $85 per person per day, but MSC runs frequent pre-cruise discounts of 20 to 40%, the calculator lets you enter your actual Cruise Planner price. The package has a $16 drink cap and a 15-drink-per-day alcoholic limit. Unlike US cruise lines, MSC includes the 15% service charge inside the package price, so there is no additional gratuity on top.
Yes. Daily gratuity is charged per guest per night regardless of package choice. For US/Caribbean/Alaska sailings the May 2026 rates are $17 per person per day for standard cabins and $23 per person per day for Yacht Club. European itineraries have lower rates (typically $14 standard). European bookings sometimes include gratuities in the fare when booked through certain markets, check your booking confirmation.
Alcohol-Free runs $33 per person per day and covers premium non-alcoholic drinks: specialty coffee, fresh-squeezed juices, bottled water, smoothies, mocktails, zero-proof cocktails, and soda. Good for Sailors who do not drink alcohol, pregnant guests, or designated drivers sharing a cabin with someone buying Premium Extra (both adults do NOT have to buy the same package). If alcohol is a significant part of the trip, Premium Extra almost always saves more.
Yacht Club is MSC's ship-within-a-ship concept, similar to NCL Haven or Celebrity Retreat. It includes premium drinks (24/7), butler service, private restaurants, private pool and sundeck, specialty dining, and unlimited Wi-Fi. Gratuities are still charged separately at the Yacht Club rate ($23/guest/day in 2026). If you are booked into Yacht Club, Premium Extra is already bundled, no need to add it separately.

- Bringing Wine on a Cruise: What Corkage Fees Really CostSeven lines let you carry wine aboard, and the corkage fee runs from nothing in your cabin to $35 a bottle at a Celebrity table. Priced per pour, a $15 bottle costs $3 a glass in a Carnival cabin and $6 in its dining room, against $15 for the average glass at the bar.
- Bringing Soda and Water on a Cruise: What It Really SavesCarnival lets every guest carry 12 cans aboard, Royal Caribbean allows 12 per stateroom, and Norwegian allows none. On Carnival that allowance is worth $29.70 to $37.80 a person in soda, and it pushes the Bottomless Bubbles break-even from about 4 poured glasses a day to between 4.7 and 5.6.
